The Heartland Awards returned at the end of March and once again proved to be a fantastic success.

Now in its fourth year, 2026 was the biggest yet, with the highest number of public votes to date and more businesses nominated than ever before. A clear sign of the strength and support within the Galashiels community.

BID for Galashiels was proud to be the main event sponsor, supporting the continued growth of the awards and helping to maximise their impact for the town.

Why this matters

  • Raises the profile of local businesses

  • Celebrates success and builds community pride

  • Showcases the strength of the town centre

  • Supports the BID’s aim to promote Galashiels as a great place to visit and do business

Lewis Roden, Chair of BID for Galashiels, reflected on the evening:

“What stood out was the genuine pride people have in Galashiels. This event continues to show just how much people care, not just about their own businesses or organisations, but about the town as a whole.

Events like this matter because they celebrate what is already here, while also building momentum for the future. There is a real sense of pride at the heart of this community, and that’s what drives it forward. The Heartland Awards reflect that, and we’re proud to support something that means so much to so many.”

The Heartland Awards are a strong example of how celebrating success helps raise the profile of Galashiels and builds continued momentum across the town. We’re already looking forward to year five.
