Want to better understand the young people who could become your future employees, apprentices and workforce - while also getting a sneak peek around the new Galashiels Academy?
On Friday 5th of June, BID for Galashiels is partnering with DYW Borders and Galashiels Academy to host an invite only business event at the academy from 2.30pm to 4.30pm, with refreshments provided.
This event is designed specifically for local businesses and offers a unique opportunity to enjoy a private guided tour of the new Galashiels Academy building. Attendees will have the chance to explore the new facilities, have a look around the campus and hear directly from school leadership about the vision behind the new academy.
Alongside the tour, there will be informal networking opportunities with fellow businesses, school staff and representatives from DYW Borders.
DYW Borders works with young people aged 3 to 24 across the Scottish Borders, helping strengthen links between education and industry so young people are better prepared for employment and aware of local career pathways. Susan Wilson is the key DYW contact supporting businesses to connect with Galashiels Academy pupils.
This is an opportunity to:
Get an exclusive look around the new Galashiels Academy building and facilities
Gain insight into the future workforce coming through Galashiels
Better understand opportunities for employer engagement within the school
Build relationships with education partners and fellow local businesses
Have informal conversations about skills, workforce needs and future opportunities within the town
As a BID, we believe supporting businesses means thinking long term as well as short term, helping strengthen the connections between local employers, education and the future economic success of Galashiels.
