Schools Back! Working Together on Employability Skills

ree

How can the summer holidays be almost over already? As pupils across Galashiels get ready to head back to school, we’re turning our attention to an issue that came up time and time again during last year’s business consultations – the employability skills of school leavers and part-time employees.

Over the past few months, we’ve been in discussions with Developing the Young Workforce (DYW), and we’re both committed to working together to address this issue. Our aim is to ensure that we’re providing young people with the skills, confidence, and experience they need to thrive – while also ensuring that the local business community receives the support and workforce it requires.

In the coming weeks, we’ll be contacting local businesses to participate in a brief but important survey. Your feedback will help shape practical steps to improve the transition from school to work here in Galashiels, ensuring benefits for both young people and employers.

If you’d like to make sure you’re included in this valuable exercise, please get in touch with Mags as soon as possible. This is your opportunity to make a real, positive impact – for our young people, for your business, and for our community.
