The Board of Directors for BID for Galashiels is delighted to confirm the appointment of Mags Fenner as Project Manager, marking the beginning of the delivery phase of the five-year Business Improvement District (BID) for Galashiels Business Plan. Mags brings a wealth of experience in managing BID projects across Scotland and played a pivotal role in securing the resounding ‘Yes’ vote from Galashiels businesses in 2024. Having led the project team throughout the development stage, Mags’ knowledge of the town and her proven track record in BID delivery will be instrumental in turning the ambitions of the BID into reality.
Mags said: “I am delighted to be staying with BID for Galashiels. Anyone who knows me knows that the town has a very special place in my heart. The opportunity to be part of a project that is tailor-made to bring benefit to Galashiels is one that I am just thrilled to be given. I share the enthusiasm of the BID for Galashiels Board of Directors who are all excited to get going. And I also acknowledge that there is a lot of hard work ahead. One of my key actions over the coming weeks will be to reach out to strategic partners. Creating the meaningful and sustainable improvement BID for Galashiels aims to deliver for the town can only be done in partnership, and I am looking forward to deepening the BID’s working relationship with Scottish Borders Council, the Energise Galashiels Trust and other key players.”
BID for Galashiels officially launches in April 2025 and will deliver a wide range of initiatives that support business growth, encourage footfall, improve the town’s appearance and strengthen Galashiels’ position as a key retail, cultural and community destination in the Borders.
Lewis Roden, Chair of BID for Galashiels, said: “The Board are delighted to have Mags as Project Manager. She managed the campaign to establish the BID for Galashiels project and has an in-depth understanding of both Business Improvement Districts and the town. She brings continuity and commitment to the role. We have had an initial Board meeting, and I can tell you that we have an exceptionally strong Board of Directors, representing a good mix of businesses within the town. The Board has a wealth of experience and skills – and most importantly a passion and enthusiasm for Galashiels. This is month one of a five-year project, the hard work starts here! We are excited to get the project moving and to deliver for the businesses who make up the BID membership.”
