Old Clydesdale Bank Given a New Community Purpose

Fantastic work has been carried out by Jay Hogarty Property to refresh the former Clydesdale Bank building on Galashiels High Street. The building has been transformed into an attractive, modern space offering a range of flexible retail units, all now available to let.

Making the Most of Vacant Space

As part of our Vacant Shop Academy project, we're always looking for creative ways to ensure empty properties continue to make a positive contribution to Galashiels while they await their next tenants.

Our latest initiative, Window to Wellness, has transformed one of the prominent High Street shop windows into a welcoming community noticeboard with a wellbeing focus.

Created in collaboration with Flourish, a wellbeing project run by Borders Care Voice,

the noticeboard provides space to promote local support services, community groups, wellbeing initiatives and upcoming events. It's designed to help connect people with the fantastic organisations and activities available across the Scottish Borders, while demonstrating how vacant shopfronts can be used in positive and imaginative ways.

Window to Wellness is just one example of how the Vacant Shop Academy is helping empty premises continue to add value to the town, creating a brighter, more engaging High Street while properties await their next chapter.

A huge thank you to the landlord who has generously allowed us to use this window while the property is awaiting its next tenant. Their support has enabled an empty shopfront to become a valuable community resource.
