When we began developing Where Christmas Comes Together, one of our guiding principles was to ensure the entire campaign supported the local economy. As a BID, we are committed to sourcing services as close to home as possible. Our procurement approach is straightforward: we look to BID members first, then to Galashiels-based businesses, then to suppliers within the wider region, and further afield where a balanced decision needs to be made on what represents best value for our levy payers.
Christmas was no exception. The illustrator who created the campaign visuals, the marketing agency that supported delivery, the printers, insurers and additional suppliers - each was selected from within Galashiels or the surrounding area. This not only keeps investment within our local economy but ensures the campaign feels rooted in the character, talent and identity of the town.
As we look ahead, this commitment to thoughtful, local-first procurement will remain central to how we operate. Every project and every pound spent has the power to strengthen our shared high street. Where Christmas Comes Together shows what can be achieved when we work with the businesses and creatives already here in Galashiels, and we’re excited to continue building on that foundation as part of our standard operating procedure.
